Address Application

If you are part of the job search, you may feel like you have tried everything to secure yourself a job. You search the newspapers and the internet, you talk to friends and cold canvas the places you would love to work at. However, have you been following all of the right instructions?

Part of the selection process for many employers is looking at how their applicants have completed their application. As part of any job advertisement, there will be instructions on how the applications should be set out, how long they should be and most importantly who they should be sent to.

These are all important instructions to follow as they have been stipulated to not only see how well the applicants can follow instructions, but also to ensure that the employer receives all of the applications in their preferred format.

However, who you send the application to is one of the most important instructions to follow correctly. This is not only important to ensure that your application gets to the right place and is considered, it is also important that people who do not want to deal with the initial influx of applications are not bombarded with them.

This means that if the job ad says to send applications to the HR Manager or the Personnel Officer, that is who you should send your application to. While you may think that these staff are not high enough within the company to consider your application, it is actually a big mistake to bypass these listed people and send the application straight to the Director or CEO.

The Director of the company has put their HR Manager as the contact person for the job applicants as they do not want to be bothered with hundreds of unscreened applications. They want their HR Manager to review all of the applications and pass on only those which are worth considering, saving them time.

The HR Manager and their staff are actually just as important as the Director in the selection process for new staff as they have been entrusted with the job of narrowing down the applicants and they may even have a say in the final selection too.
