Be Patient

When looking for work, it can feel like you waste a lot of time just waiting. You wait to see the perfect job in the paper, you wait to hear from the employer, you wait for the interview and you wait for the outcome.

However, this is all just part of applying for jobs and advancing your career and while you may be desperate for the process to move faster because you are out of work and need funds or you can’t stand your current co-workers, it is all part of the job hunting experience.

Therefore, you simply have to be patient as many employers will receive hundreds of applications for their advertised position and they need to make sure they consider the applications carefully to ensure they don’t waste time interviewing all of the people who applied.

Some government departments and large businesses will also send out a receipt of application to all of the job seekers letting them know their application was received. This takes time for their office to organise and send out but it lets you know your application wasn’t lost in the post.

The employers may also have selected a large number of applicants for interviews and therefore, you may be waiting for your interview time to come up among the other selected applicants as while employers need a new staff member, they may not have time to spend a whole week conducting interviews and may have to spread them out over a month.

These employers also want to make sure they find the right person for the job so they may conduct a second or even a third interview. You will then have to wait again for the employer to consider the performance of the applicants in their first interview and then wait for your second interview to be scheduled.
