Creative Job Application

Employers will sometimes see hundreds of applications when they are looking to fill a position with their company and the applications can have a tendency to all blur together, making it almost a random choice as to who secures an interview and who doesn’t.

Therefore, to ensure you have the opportunity to sell yourself to your potential employer in an interview, make sure your resume is selling you while sitting on your potential employer’s desk.

When applying for a job, your resume needs to give you a competitive edge to make it, and you, stand out from the crowd. Therefore, to make your application unique, use your imagination.

You may want to burn your resume and application onto a CD and make up a cover and label for the CD to make sure your application gets noticed among all of the paper on the desk.

Or if you are a designer, make sure your application looks creative and eye-catching, you know what you need to do to make that happen. Or if you are an architect, print your application and resume onto an A2 piece of translucent paper, or someone applying for a job in the hospitality industry might print their resume and application in a menu format with a tassel attached.

While it is great to be creative and different, keep in mind that your potential employer still has to read all about your qualifications and experience once their eye has been attracted by the layout of your application.

By being creative and using your initiative shows your potential employer that you have put a lot of effort into your application and it was not just printed in five minutes and put in the mail.
